About the farm

Twelve acres outside Petaluma, farmed by the same family since 2009.

The flower fields at Meadowlark Farm in early summer

We started with one field and a truck

In 2009, Claire and Tom Hennessey leased 4 acres on the west side of Petaluma and planted their first season: mostly zinnias, sunflowers, and lavender โ€” things they knew would sell.

The first market was the Petaluma East Side Farmers Market. They set up a folding table with a jar of lavender and a hand-painted sign. They sold out in 45 minutes.

The farm now covers 12 acres. We grow over 80 varieties across three distinct fields: a lower field for the annual cut flowers, a hillside planting of lavender and perennials, and a small cutting garden close to the farmhouse where we trial new varieties each season.

Claire's daughter Rosa joined full-time in 2021. She manages the dahlia program and introduced the lisianthus trial that has become one of our best sellers.

How we grow

๐ŸŒฑ

Certified Naturally Grown

We're certified through the Certified Naturally Grown program โ€” no synthetic pesticides, no synthetic fertilizers. We use cover crops, compost, and beneficial insects.

Cut the morning of market

We don't pre-cut and refrigerate. Every bunch at our market table was cut that morning, conditioned in clean water for 4โ€“6 hours, and brought directly to you.

Water from our pond

We collect winter rainwater in a 2-acre irrigation pond. Over 90% of our growing season water comes from on-farm sources, with supplemental well water only in dry years.
